# payment_method_invalid

> HTTP 400 — Payment method is invalid, expired, or incompatible.

## HTTP status

`400 invalid_request_error`

## Typical cause

The payment method on file is no longer valid — it may have expired, been removed by the issuer, or is incompatible with the operation.

## Resolution

Update the payment method in your account settings and retry.
